Happy Holidays

We survived! And based on all that we have crammed into the past six weeks, that is quite and accomplishment. We made it through the first half of December. In the Cross House, there is a big event that we have to celebrate before we can turn our attention to Christmas. Happy Birthday Parker! Parker wanted to have a couple of friends over for his birthday so Kristie organized a play date for him. After playing for a little while, we all ate pizza and a Rudolph cake that Parker and Kristie created. Then it was off to Firefly Games and Toys so that Parker and his friends could play Pokemon.

After Parker’s birthday, we turned our attention to Christmas. Parker and Ansel enjoyed their break and they made the most of it starting with swimming lessons at the YMCA. We had a wonderful, quiet Christmas. We took the time to rest up and get ready for what was in store for the New Year.

Jay was the only one who stayed up to ring in the New Year. We spent most of New Year’s Day packing and then drove up to Charlotte to hop on an airplane to fly out to Salt Lake City, Utah. We arrived around midnight and checked into our hotel. Friday morning, we walked around town then met up with our special traveling companion (Mom-Mom). We walked around the city some more and visited the Utah Statehouse. The next day, we walked around Temple Square before loading up to head for the hills in Park City. We checked into our condo at Park City Mountain. After getting settled, Jay and Mom-Mom took the bus to the grocery store to stock up. To this day, Mom-Mom is not sure how all of our groceries made it back to the condo, but they managed.

Sunday, the kids enrolled in ski school and Kristie and Jay hit the slopes. Our routine became ski all day and then meet up with the kids when ski school was over and ski with them. We were all impressed with how good Ansel and Parker got at skiing. At one point, we were riding the chair lift up to the top and looked down to see Parker and his ski school buddies slashing through the trees. On Wednesday, we took the day off and took the tour at Olympic Park. Parker was having so much fun that he decided to ditch us and stayed on the mountain for another day of skiing.

We enjoyed two more days of skiing and then it was time to head back to reality. We had an amazing trip and can’t wait for our next one.
